Job Resources
Sometimes it is hard to know where to start when you are looking for employment. There are part time jobs, summer jobs, residential programs (which involve housing along with job training and work experience). There are many different options. It is important to be informed, and to use all of the resources available to you. Remember you can find counselors, and career centers in most high schools, colleges, and communities. Below are some good Internet links to get you started in your research.

This is a State website that was created by young people and for young people that explains job discrimination, how to avoid discrimination at the work place, and what to do if you encounter it.

Residential Programs/Vocational Training
Regional Occupational Centers & Programs
Regional Occupational Center & Programs commonly known as ROP, offers free or low cost classes. Upon the completion of many of these courses certificates are often offered, and they will assist you with job placement.

Job Corp
Job Corps is a free job training program, they also can help you with housing, and getting your GED.

Americorps
Americorps is a community service program. Some programs provide a living allowance, food, and housing. You may also be able to complete your GED, and other training while a member of Americops.

City Year
City Year is a year of services where you work in the community gaining job skills and training. It focuses on bringing together young people from many different backgrounds, and both giving back to the community and training a new workforce.

California Conservation Crops
The California Conservation Corps, also called the CCC, is for young men and women ages 18 to 25. It's a great way to get training, and help our environment at the same time. Plus you get paid. Housing and meals are also available.

College Board
College Board is a good place to start for any information on your college search. It has resources to find out when and where to take the SAT, which is a test needed for entry to many colleges. They also have a college search so you can find more information about colleges, and narrow down your options. Additionally, they have a Scholarship database to help you find ways to pay for college.
